(Espelkamp/Halle (Saale)).- An amazing feat has been achieved: immediately following the official approval by the responsible ministry on Tuesday, 18 December, Merkur Spielbank Halle (Saale) opened its doors for business. The casino offers guests an exciting and modern mix of slot machines, a bar and lounge area to linger and chat and a friendly service team. “We are thrilled that everyone involved in the project managed to complete the build so quickly and get the casino up and running in time to open our doors before the end of the year. We’ll celebrate properly at the official opening in February 2019,” said Spielbank director Marcus L. Brandenburg.

Merkur Spielbank Halle (Saale) opens its doors

Merkur Spielbank Halle is operated by Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between the Eastern Westphalian Gauselmann Group and the Swiss Stadtcasino Baden AG. The new casino is located in the historic premises at Franckestraße 1, covering a total area of 800 square metres, 340 of which is allocated to the gaming area. The casino’s design concept is the brainchild of interior designer and architect Susanne Rasspe. It has been named “Carmel” after the coastal town of the same name in California and emulates the colours and shapes found there. The new venue has a total investment volume of 4.5 million euros.

Halle (Saale) is Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt’s third casino venue after Leuna-Günthersdorf (2014) and Magdeburg (2016). Unlike its two older affiliates, the Halle casino is a pure slot machine venue. However, the entertainment offering – as at all Merkur Spielbanken locations – is versatile and varied: 84 slot machines with jackpot systems, 3D games, electronic roulette and blackjack and, of course, the latest products from the Gauselmann Group await guests in the new Merkur Spielbank Halle (Saale).

Merkur Spielbank Halle will be managed by Tobias Hellbach. The 36-year-old has been part of the team since the opening of the first Merkur Spielbank in Leuna-Günthersdorf. In 2016, he moved to the Magdeburg location, where he was up until recently deputy casino manager. “Tobias Hellbach is the perfect man for the job. He not only knows the industry inside out, but Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt as well,” Marcus L. Brandenburg explained. ”I really enjoy my work here and am especially looking forward to my next challenge,” said Tobias Hellbach.
